Workbrew 2.0: the app store for your entire company

John Britton

Workbrew's mission is to give every developer, creative professional, and builder the tools they need to do their best work, in a safe and secure environment. Workbrew 2.0 brings that mission to your entire company. The Workbrew Catalog now reaches beyond Homebrew, the Workbrew app is available on every plan, new plans make Workbrew easier to start with, Workbrew MSP brings multi-tenant management to managed service providers, and the Updatest team has joined Workbrew.

Workbrew began by bringing centrally-managed governance and security to Homebrew, the package manager developers already trusted. Over the past year, the positive response from customers has been overwhelming as we've helped them bring order and control to previously unmanaged software. Many customers were so happy with their experiences they wanted Workbrew for all company employees, not only developers, and they wanted visibility and security for the other ways software reaches a Mac.

AI has made those requests more urgent. More people are building software at work, and building starts with installing tools. In IBM's 2026 Cost of a Data Breach Report, employees using unapproved AI tools were involved in 43% of security incidents. Builders can't afford to slow down and you can't afford to lose sight of their tooling.

Workbrew 2.0 builds on a strong foundation. Since launch, Workbrew has patched more than 10 million vulnerabilities for companies like SoFi, Remote, and Guidepoint, and it's now ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified.

The Workbrew Catalog sees more of your fleet
The Workbrew Catalog now supports npm packages, VS Code extensions, and macOS apps alongside Homebrew. They appear in the same inventory, with known vulnerabilities flagged, so you can see far more of the software installed across your fleet.
