Securing Developer Workflows With the Tools They Already Love
Mac Admins Europe
David Starr from Workbrew explains how Apple admins can secure macOS developer workflows without slowing developers down.
In this Mac Admins Europe 2026 session, David explores how developers use Homebrew, GitHub, and emerging AI-assisted tooling to manage their own machines, and how IT and security teams can improve visibility, policy enforcement, and compliance across Mac developer environments.
Developers often install the tools they need through Homebrew, GitHub, and AI agents requesting additional software on their behalf. That flexibility is powerful, but it can make it difficult for security and IT teams to understand what is installed, manage risk, and prove compliance, especially on Macs operating with elevated administrator privileges.
This session looks at Homebrew as a package manager, Workbrew’s approach to managing Homebrew across developer fleets, and how governance can be embedded directly into Git-based workflows developers already use.
