JNUC 2026: Workbrew joins the Jamf App Catalog

If there was one message from JNUC 2026 in Kansas City, it’s that Declarative Device Management (DDM) is here, and things are changing more than ever for Mac Admins. We were happy to be back at JNUC for our third year, along with everyone’s favorite conference swag. We started off the week with over a hundred Mac Admins at our pre-conference happy hour, which we co-hosted with Ravenna and the Mac Admins Foundation. It was a great way to kick off JNUC.

Jamf’s started the week with a clear message: DDM is the standard admins now build on through Jamf Pro’s Blueprints. Blueprints are reusable, condition-based configuration sets that bundle settings, apps and compliance requirements together.

We saw a bit more of how apps fit into Blueprints as attendees saw the Workbrew app featured as an example of an app that can be installed via App Catalog in Blueprints. This new ability to install and update binaries alongside traditional vendor-hosted apps in one place is a game-changer for Jamf admins. While Workbrew automatically updates the agent once deployed, admins still needed to deploy a new version of the Workbrew installer for new enrollments.

The second thread we heard throughout the week both in sessions and at the booth was that the device management service is becoming something you program, not just something you click through. Jamf framed this as moving from a platform you configure to a platform you build upon with their new Platform API. With the Jamf Platform Terraform provider organizations like Lloyds Banking Group can now manage an instance as code. While GitOps, infrastructure as code, and API-first workflows have been how the rest of engineering works for a decade, it’s great to see Mac admins being handed the same tools.

A third and final thread was Platform SSO. For many organizations it’s a game changer, and one of the standout sessions of the week was from Adam Derrick (Jamf) with Chris Scalise (Universal Music Group). They covered the latest Platform SSO features that came with macOS 27 and are supported by Jamf.

Many changes over the past few years are starting to pay off for Mac Admins, as declarative device management and Platform SSO become the standards that more organizations use. We noted this last year, but it’s even more clear than ever: The role has outgrown its old borders, as we see more admins become architects and collaborators. And as our flip counter showed: the software that admins have to manage has outgrown its old borders too, with more updates to manage and wrangle than ever before.
